The sweet smell of this place sets you in the mood for desserts. The coffee flavor single scoop that I got was perfect, has a smooth texture and wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet. Good customer service: if you dine in, they'll bring it out to you.

Stopped in with our family of 4 for a quick treat. The service was polite and friendly. The reason for 4 vs 5 stars is price. Their ice cream is good, but WAY overpriced.

Fudge Brownie! Loved it! Most places give you a brownie that is cold and hard because it's under the ice cream, but the brownie was warm, gooey and sooo good. It was a little overload of the nuts on top for me, but still good!

Ice cream 101 When I have a hankering for good old-fashioned, hand-dipped hard ice cream I go to Oberweis. It's a family-owned, Chicagoland chain that sells milkshakes, coffee, ice cream, ice cream cakes & pies, their own brand of white & chocolate milk, yogurt, and other assorted frozen desserts & dairy products. A lot of people are fanatics about the milk at Oberweis which comes from the Oberweis dairy farms & are nuts about the shakes, but I go only for the ice cream. You won't find 31 different artisanal flavors or variety here & don't expect to find a bunch of toppings either. The selection of flavors are pretty standard here with some limited seasonal offerings. The concentration at Oberweis is more about having all your favorite basic ice cream flavors produced with fresh milk & cream straight from the Oberweis dairy farms & making them super premium in quality & rich in taste. So if you want premium, no-frills, stick-to-your ribs hard ice cream, I recommend going to a Chicagoland tradition, Oberweis, their ice cream is udderly gemlicious! P.S. Add this to Gem's list of unhealthy exceptions, the place I go to when I want a basic scoop of full-fat, gemtacular ice cream when the craving hits!

This place definitely needs more workers. We came on a Saturday night to get ice cream. Yes, the place was pretty packed and there was a long line. It took some time to get our order. We ordered 2 ice cream cones. I think there was some confusion because one girl made one order and I think put it on the stand in the back and it took some time our other order was made. By the time we got both orders, the first order was soft and starting to melt (it was dripping down the side of the cone). We also weren't offered napkins. I love their ice cream, but they need to hire more workers and get more organized.

I may not agree with Jim Oberweis' political, but I can certainly get behind his ice cream. The location is clean. The employees are always friendly. Service is usually quick even when they're busy. They have a great stock of take home products.

I ordered the brownie sundae with a scoop of vanilla and pineapple, peanut butter, and chocolate syrup. I have to say that Oberweis has great quality in their products but you sure do pay for it. My bill for my sundae was $11 w/ tax. Although it was a little pricey I will probably be back soon, I guess it's just that good!

Uh oh, I am in big trouble. I have a new two day a week teaching gig and this Oberweis is right on the way. And there is a drive through. Do you have any idea how many reasons I can come up with for driving through? My calcium feels depleted...I need some moo...I wonder if their ice cream is good this way...I better help support the local economy... and the list goes on. Yesterday's excuse was "didn't have time for lunch" and while true, an apple probably would have done the trick. But are there any drive through fruit stands on Harlem? No! So I was justified. And there is always the fact that everything here is sinfully scrumptious, with whole fat and flavor. I drove through and quick as you can say delicious I had a Chocolate milkshake in my hands. It was perfect, the friendly gal even remembered to give me extra napkins. (She must have seen me eat before.) The chocolate milkshakes here start off magnificently with that pirouette cookie, continue to delight with the cold darilicious chocolate and end with dregs of whipped cream being noisily sucked up through a huge straw. Contentment. My "lunch" satisfied me all day, kept me full and happy. But I might need to find a new route for my commute because there is temptation on the way home also!

This is probably the cleanest, most organized Oberweis I have ever been in. The coolers are clean, products well stocked. The employees are professional too. Yea!

I am not sure what is was. But the employees here are in a great mood and very helpful. I could tell by the generous portions that the staff was handing out. It was much appreciated on a hot day.

This location is quite large. Like any other Oberweis I've been to it's very clean and organized. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Very uplifting and happy when you walk in here.

My wife makes the best homemade lemonade I've ever tasted but if I need something in a pinch I'll hit up Oberweis. I think they offer a lot of product for the price and their ice cream is real. If you know ice cream, you know what I mean. It's not watery frozen junk, it's creamy and authentic.I've never had a bad milkshake from here and the inside of the store is always clean. The hours are pretty good and my kids love this stuff so I think its safe to say we'll always be regulars here.

While I applaud this company's efforts to maintain purity of the milk (i.e., no hormones and rewarding farmers who don't treat their cows with growth hormones), I was surprised and disappointed to note that all of their packaged ice cream contains myriad additives, such as high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors galore. I love their slogan about "simple is best" but adding all those unnecessary ingredients kind of contradicts their intentions. I stopped into the Orland Park location because I haven't had a milkshake in nearly a year and was really craving one. I would have bought more for my family, but I don't want to support the use of additives. So, I drank about half of my black cherry shake and decided it was decent, despite possible chemical enhancement. The store was empty and the salesperson seemed disappointed that I didn't buy more. After reading all of the labels, I told her why. Three stars for effort- I hope they consider making it all-natural and then I will be back to add more stars to this review!
